Marie Kufus

Born and raised locally in the Columbia River Gorge, Dr. Marie Kufus has naturally gravitated toward all things involving nature, including a deep love for animals. Growing up in a rural small town Marie has enjoyed and cared for many creatures great and small – cats, dogs, rabbits, goats, chickens, helping care for the livestock of neighbors or friends. And she has loved it all!

Becoming a veterinarian has been the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. Dr. Kufus attended undergraduate school at Washington State University in Pullman, WA. It was there that she met her husband, Nick. She returned to WSU for her veterinary medicine degree and graduated in 2017.

Since moving back to western Washington Dr. Kufus has had the privilege of calling East Padden home. She enjoys the variety of cases she gets to see and treat, it’s never a dull day! She especially enjoys being an advocate for small mammal pets that don’t have many options for care in our area.

Outside of work Dr. Kufus treasures time with her husband and their young family. Life is busy with three little ones and time relaxing at home is just as cherished as time spent on their adventures. When time allows baking and reading are a special luxury, especially when accompanied by her cat Joker. Her family looks forward to further growing their family with a canine resident soon!
