Dr. Santiago was born and raised in Puerto Rico, where her love for animals first began. She earned her Animal Science Bachelor’s degree from the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez before going on to complete her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Iowa State University.
After graduation, Dr. Santiago worked as an emergency medicine clinician in Arizona, where she gained valuable experience managing urgent and critical cases. While she found emergency medicine incredibly rewarding, she discovered a passion for building lasting relationships with both clients and their pets. This inspired her transition into general practice, where she enjoys watching her patients grow from playful puppies into lifelong companions. Dr.
Santiago recently relocated to Washington, drawn by its lush greenery and cooler climate. She is excited to become part of the local community and provide compassionate, comprehensive care to her patients.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Santiago enjoys hiking, movies, reading, and spending time at the park with her two Shih Tzus, Matthew and Ellie. Matthew is quiet and gentle, while Ellie is spunky and full of personality—though just as sweet once she warms up.
